It seems impossible that the 81% of reported intrusions are not detected by internal security process (according to Trustwave report) but most of them are discovered by news reports, law enforcements or external fraud monitoring.
In my experience companies realize about a data breach when their own customers notify about the issue or the exfiltrated information is already on the Black Markets.
The concept of cybersecurity has changed forever and nowdays is not enough to monitor your internal networks companies/people have to change their minds and start thinking that they have to monitor what is already there, so the question I was wondering, do you know what is your digital footprint? Do you know all the information about you, your company or your relatives that is already out there?
The breach was discovered after a member called and said, “My credit card got hacked.” Apparently, illicit charges to the member’s card were made right after he bought something online at the store.car.org site, the REBS web address.
